Actor Sanchita Ugale's last rites take place 9 days after her suicide
Sanchita Ugale's last rites were held in her ancestral village nine days after her death. Her family and colleagues have offered differing accounts as the police investigation continues.

Television actor Sanchita Ugale, best known for playing Diya Tandon in Kumkum Bhagya, was cremated on June 23, nine days after she was found dead at her Mumbai residence. She was 26.
According to reports, her mortal remains were taken to her ancestral village, Dongargaon, in the Akola region of Ahilyanagar district, where her last rites were performed in the presence of family members and close friends. Reports added that the family also observed the traditional dashkriya ritual, which is performed for unmarried individuals. While mourning rituals typically continue for 13 days, her family concluded the ceremonies in 10 days, in keeping with their customary traditions.
According to police officials, Sanchita allegedly died by suicide after she was found inside a locked room at her residence. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered, and police are investigating all possible angles, including aspects of her personal and professional life.
In the days following her death, members of Sanchita's family questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident. Her father alleged that she had been under emotional distress and subjected to harassment before her death.
"People from the industry were putting pressure on her. She was very upset at home. She looked fine from the outside but was feeling suffocated inside. My daughter has committed suicide under the pressure of people from the industry," he alleged.
Sanchita's cousin, Akash Ugale, also claimed that she had been targeted within the entertainment industry. Drawing parallels with the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's case, he demanded a thorough investigation into her death.
However, some of Sanchita's colleagues have disputed the family's allegations. Actor Megha Sharma told The Times of India that Sanchita had been battling depression since January and suggested that industry pressure was not the primary reason behind her struggles.
"She had some health-related issues and had been battling depression since January," Sharma said.
While the exact circumstances surrounding Sanchita's death remain under investigation, chats shared by Indraxi reportedly suggest that she had been struggling with self-doubt, anxiety and symptoms of depression.
