Truth must come out: Actor Sanchita Ugale's father demands answers after her suicide
TV actor Sanchita Ugale's father has alleged she faced harassment and mental pressure before her death. The family's claims have intensified calls for a thorough police probe into the case.

The family of actor Sanchita Ugale has alleged that she was facing mental harassment and pressure in the months leading up to her death, with her father calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her suicide. Speaking to media, Machhindra Ugale, the actor's father, said his daughter had been under significant mental stress and urged that the truth behind her suffering be brought out.
Keeping the focus on the family’s allegations, Sanchita's father said she had been dealing with issues at her workplace and appealed for justice. In an emotional appeal, her father said, "My daughter should get justice," adding that although Sanchita was generally cheerful, there were times when she would suddenly slip into depression. He said her emotional state had become a matter of concern for the family, and claimed he would often accompany her during her daily commute because he was worried about her well-being.
He further alleged that Sanchita had been facing continuous mental pressure and harassment at work, possibly linked to financial or other professional issues. “The truth about what was causing my daughter so much pain must come out. Not just my daughter, all daughters in this country deserve justice,” he said.
"She was mentally harassed"
Sanchita’s maternal aunt also made serious allegations, saying the actor had appeared worried and distressed for the past two to four months. She alleged that someone from the entertainment industry had been mentally harassing and pressuring Sanchita. “Had she shared these things with the family earlier, we could have taken some steps. The police must investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that whoever is responsible for her mental harassment is punished,” she said.
Meanwhile, actor Jessica, who worked with Sanchita, said she was shocked by the incident and described her as a strong and positive person. “Sanchita was a very strong girl who got along with everyone. I still find it hard to believe she would take such a step,” Jessica said, while also calling for improvements in the industry’s work culture to reduce mental pressure on artists.
The family’s allegations have centred on claims of workplace harassment, mental pressure and Sanchita’s struggles with depression in the months before her death. As the police investigation continues, her father and aunt have both demanded a thorough probe and accountability for anyone found responsible.
Earlier, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) sought a high-level investigation into her death. The organisation wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying the case must be examined thoroughly and transparently.
Sanchita, 26, was known for her work in television shows and films, including Kumkum Bhagya, Wagle Ki Duniya, Dilwale Dulha Le Jayegi, Silence: The Night Owl Bar Shootout, and Chhaava. She was found dead at her home on June 14.
