Reverse-searching frames from the video led us to a post by the news agency ANI from May 27, 2021, featuring images identical to those in the viral video. According to the post, the BJP’s Shivraj Nariyalwale was thrashed by the police after his family vandalised a hospital following the death of a patient.

We also found the video posted by News18 Marathi on May 27, 2021. The news outlet reported that police thrashed a BJP worker after he barged into a Covid-19 hospital and vandalised the intensive care unit.

On May 28, 2021, current Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asked then-CM Uddhav Thackeray to take action against Nariyalwale. He also mentioned in his post that Nariyalwale was the district General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Maharashtra’s Jalna.

Notably, we did not find any credible news reports about a Bhim Army activist called Suresh Jatav making derogatory remarks about Hindu deities. Thus, we concluded that the viral claim is false.
