A government school teacher is ushering in a chess revolution in the village of Ratusinh Na Muvada in Gujarat's Mahisagar district. The mathematics teacher is using his own funds to train students to become future grandmasters. He has purchased 125 chess sets, 35 timers, and chess books, and even translated a book into Gujarati. To ensure regular studies are not affected, he holds chess classes on Sundays and during holidays. His efforts have resulted in numerous students being selected for a district-level chess programme, with 14 of his students chosen in 2023 and seven the following year.
