Hindu College: Arts at its heart
Hindu College again tops the India Today Best Colleges 2026 rankings in Arts through a pioneering public policy programme, research opportunities and global engagement

A case in point is the Public Policy in Action (PPIA) programme, anchored in India’s first undergraduate-focused Public Policy Lab, launched in 2025 with support from the Indian Railway Finance Corporation and Hindustan Steelworks Construction Ltd. Combining classroom learning with policy simulations, case studies, field immersion and an eight-week paid internship, the programme enables students to engage with real-world governance and development challenges.
What makes Hindu College particularly distinctive is the growing integration of academic learning with global opportunities through the Office of International Programmes (OIP). In the past year, students represented the college at the Asian Undergraduate Summit hosted by the National University of Singapore, with their projects securing international seed funding. The college has also expanded partnerships with institutions such as Waseda University, Japan, and the University of Warsaw, Poland, while programmes such as the Aspire Leaders Programme and the Study Abroad Forum are creating new pathways for international exposure and learning.
Research opportunities are also expanding significantly at the college. Faculty members are leading major projects in areas such as food security, sustainable development, governance and regional development, funded by agencies such as the ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research). Students participate as research assistants, gaining experience in fieldwork, policy analysis and academic research.
Technology and innovation are another important focus area. A key initiative is the AI Training and Innovation Lab, which will serve as a platform for workshops, training programmes, conferences and interdisciplinary projects. This will help arts students gain exposure to emerging technologies that are reshaping fields such as public policy, governance, media, economics and social research.
As these initiatives expand, Hindu College is positioning itself as a place where undergraduate education extends well beyond the classroom, connecting scholarship with leadership, innovation and public impact.
