Tej Pratap Yadav-led Jan Shakti Janata Dal has named social activist Veena Manvi as its candidate for the upcoming Bankipur Assembly bypoll in Bihar. On Sunday, Tej Pratap Yadav formally handed over the party's election symbol to Manvi, officially declaring her as the party's nominee.

After receiving the election symbol, Veena Manvi thanked the party leadership through a social media post. She said the party had reposed faith in her and assured that she would strive to live up to the expectations while working as the voice of the people of Bankipur.

With Manvi entering the contest, the Bankipur bypoll is set to become more competitive. She is expected to face Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, who has already announced his candidature from the seat. The BJP is also expected to field its candidate, raising the possibility of a triangular contest.
