Days before birthday, 34-year-old biker killed by speeding Thar on Delhi flyover

A speeding Thar allegedly rammed a biker on the Rajokri flyover, killing him. Police have detained the driver. The accident left the family of the deceased in shock days before his birthday.

Just days before his 34th birthday, Gurugram resident Sarthak Mattoo lost his life after his motorcycle was allegedly hit from behind by a speeding Mahindra Thar on Delhi's Rajokri flyover. The fatal crash occurred on the morning of June 25, when Mattoo was travelling from Gurugram to Noida for work.

According to Delhi Police, a PCR call was received at Vasant Kunj South Police Station reporting that a car had hit a motorcycle, leaving the rider critically injured. Sarthak was rushed by a PCR team to the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre in Vasant Kunj, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police subsequently registered an FIR under the relevant sections at Vasant Kunj South Police Station. Following a post-mortem examination at Safdarjung Hospital, Sarthak's body was handed over to his grieving family.

Sarthak, 34, worked with ENOUT, an event management company in Gurugram. His sudden death has left his parents and family devastated. Instead of preparing to celebrate his birthday, they are now mourning the loss of their son.

During the investigation, police traced the alleged offending vehicle, a Mahindra Thar, which was found to be registered in the name of a Bengaluru-based private company. Investigators said the SUV had been leased to Sagar Saha (29), a Bihar native employed by the company and posted in Bengaluru.

During questioning, Sagar Saha told investigators that he was travelling in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash, while the Thar was allegedly being driven by his friend, Apurv Singh (30), a native of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, who works for a private firm and is currently residing in Gurugram.

Police have seized the Mahindra Thar as part of the investigation and apprehended Apurv Singh, the alleged driver of the vehicle. His medical examination was conducted at Safdarjung Hospital. Further investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.

According to the family's account, Sarthak had left Gurugram for Noida at around 6:30 am on June 25 when the speeding Thar, allegedly bearing a Karnataka registration, rammed into his Pulsar motorcycle from behind on the Rajokri flyover, causing fatal injuries.
