The boys, one of them aged 14, were playing cricket on a school ground when the ball hit a woman on Sunday (June 21). According to police, the incident triggered a violent reaction from a group of adults.

The accused allegedly tied the boys to school windows and beat them with slippers and their hands, leaving them injured and requiring hospitalisation.

Police identified the accused as Renuka Sharanar, Basavaraj Sharanar and Abhi Lamani.

Following a complaint by the boys' parents, Kerur police launched an investigation into the incident.

The incident sparked outrage among locals over the vigilante-style assault on children over a minor dispute.
