Over Rs 3 crore in donations poured into the Mantralaya Matha in Karnataka’s Raichur during the Raghavendra Swamy Vardhanti Utsava, as thousands of devotees contributed generously to the celebrations.
A video of over a hundred priests seated in rows, meticulously counting donations, has gone viral on social media.
In just 30 days, the matha received offerings amounting to Rs 3,48,69,621 in cash, along with 32 grams of gold and 1.24 kilograms of silver. Lakhs of devotees thronged Mantralaya to commemorate the birth anniversary of Raghavendra Swamy, a revered 16th-century saint.
Following the conclusion of the festival, the matha administration completed the counting and documentation of all offerings.
This matha remains a significant spiritual centre, attracting numerous devotees, including notable figures such as former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who visited the matha last year in Bengaluru for Kartika Masa prayers. Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murthy also accompanied their daughter and son-in-law.
