Shiv Sena leader Ramesh Mhatre arrested for assaulting doctors, nurses

Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre has been arrested by the police following the circulation of a video showing the assault of a doctor and nurses at a municipal hospital Maharashtra's Kalyan-Dombivli area. The politician was on the run after being named as the prime accused. The police registered charges against the politician and four accomplices, invoking sections of the medical practitioners act and charges of obstructing public servants from performing duties. The accused has a history of prior offences, including rioting and assault. An opposition leader visited the affected medical staff at the hospital, demanding action from the state government and questioning the protection of the accused.
