Goldy Dhillon, key aide of Lawrence Bishnoi, arrested by Spanish police
The sustained crackdown on Goldy Dhillon's network across the country, coupled with his arrest in Spain, is being seen as a significant breakthrough for Indian law enforcement agencies in their fight against transnational gang networks operating from abroad.

Spanish security agencies have arrested wanted gangster Goldy Dhillon in connection with the targeted killing of a Chandigarh-based medical store cashier, following inputs from the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), according to sources.
Dhillon is accused of allegedly orchestrating the murder of Janaki Das, a 45-year-old cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Chandigarh’s Sector 11, who was shot dead in a daylight attack on June 13.
THE CHANDIGARH MURDER
According to Chandigarh Police, the incident took place around 2:30 pm when three armed assailants arrived at the market complex on a motorcycle. Two of them, wearing masks, entered the medical store while a third remained outside on lookout duty.
Eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigation suggest the attackers walked straight to the counter and opened fire at close range, firing multiple rounds in quick succession. The victim was rushed to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators later named Dhillon as the alleged mastermind behind the attack.
GOLDY DHILLON AND HIS GANG
Dhillon is believed to be operating from outside India and is associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He is under the scanner of multiple law enforcement agencies for alleged involvement in extortion, illegal arms trafficking, narcotics networks and targeted killings.
According to police officials, his syndicate allegedly relies on encrypted communication platforms, VPNs and virtual numbers to coordinate operations while remaining outside Indian jurisdiction.
LINK TO OTHER CASES
Dhillon has previously claimed responsibility for multiple violent incidents abroad, including indiscriminate firing outside the residence of Canada-based businessman Jasvir Dhesi in Brampton in January, a video of which circulated widely on social media.
He is also linked to other high-profile cases, including a shooting outside comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada and the targeted killing of Indian-origin textile tycoon Darshan Singh Sahasi in Abbotsford, who was allegedly killed after refusing to pay extortion money.
More recently, the gangster is believed to have been involved in a firing incident at an office in Patiala, for which he later claimed responsibility on social media.
ACTION AGAINST GOLDY DHILLON NETWORK
Meanwhile, multiple arrests and recoveries have been made in India as part of the wider crackdown on Dhillon’s network.
Delhi Police had earlier arrested two alleged operatives of the foreign-based gangster and recovered firearms, ammunition and mobile phones from their possession. Officials said the duo was part of Dhillon’s network involved in arms and narcotics supply chains.
Separately, Punjab Police arrested two shooters in connection with a firing incident in Patiala following a brief encounter on the Patiala–Sangrur bypass.
Earlier this year, two alleged sharpshooters linked to Dhillon were also injured in an encounter in Patiala, with police recovering foreign-made pistols and a motorcycle without a number plate.
