Man kills himself in poison-filled room, suicide note warns daughter not to come in
Before consuming poison, the man wrote a note warning his daughter not to enter the house or drink the poisoned water inside.

A 42-year-old man died by suicide after allegedly consuming poison at his residence in a posh locality in Gandhinagar, months after losing his job and slipping into severe financial distress amid mounting stock market losses. Before taking the extreme step, the man left behind a warning note for his daughter, asking her to stay away from the poison-filled house and not drink the water inside.
Pankaj Bhansali, a Mumbai native who had been residing in Gandhinagar’s Kudasan area, left the note on the main door of the house, which could read, "Daughter, don’t come inside. Don’t drink the water from the house, there is poison inside," apparently to protect his family from exposure to the toxic substance. Police said Bhansali allegedly consumed Celphos poison.
Once Celphos, one of the world’s most lethal poisons, comes into contact with the stomach, it rapidly releases phosphine gas, which can also spread throughout the room.
Bhansali was working with a stock market-related company in Gandhinagar Infocity and had been facing severe financial difficulties and mental stress after allegedly losing his job around five months ago and suffering heavy losses in the stock market, according to the preliminary police investigation. Officials said the losses had pushed him into mounting debt.
Police said Bhansali allegedly consumed the poisonous substance while he was alone at home after his wife and daughter had gone to her parents’ house on May 23.
His wife reportedly last spoke to him on May 22. However, after that conversation, his phone reportedly kept ringing and switching off repeatedly, raising suspicion among family members that something was wrong.
Concerned over the lack of communication, Bhansali’s wife later returned with their daughter and went to the house along with his brother. When the family opened the door, they found Bhansali’s body lying inside the residence. Police said the body had reportedly remained inside the house for nearly five days and had swollen and turned black due to the effect of the poison.
Officials said Bhansali’s face had blackened because of the toxic substance he consumed. They added that the warning note left outside the house appeared to have been written to ensure the safety of his wife and daughter from any possible exposure to the poisonous substance kept inside the residence.
Infocity Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and recovered Celphos poison from the house. A case has been registered and further legal proceedings have been initiated. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Police said the preliminary investigation suggested that Bhansali had been under severe financial pressure for some time. Officials said he had allegedly accumulated heavy debt due to stock market losses while simultaneously dealing with unemployment after losing his job. The combined burden of debt and unemployment reportedly pushed him into severe depression.
Police said all aspects related to the case are currently under investigation.
