Maharashtra officer tries to kill wife amid dispute, assaults son; case filed
A case has been filed against a Maharashtra officer for allegedly attempting to murder his wife and assaulting their minor son in Pune.

A government official in Maharashtra has allegedly attempted to murder his wife and assaulted his minor son at their residence in Pune, police said.
A case has been registered against the officer, Vijay Dhulchand Karande, who is currently serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Maharashtra minister Atul Save in Mumbai.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Karande’s 30-year-old wife.
The complainant alleged that an argument broke out on April 30 after she questioned her husband over certain mobile phone chats and sought access to his password. The dispute escalated, during which Karande allegedly attacked her with a bat and attempted to strangle her.
Police said the couple’s minor son was also assaulted when he tried to intervene.
The woman managed to escape from the house along with her child and later approached the police.
A case has been registered under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the officer, who is originally associated with the Department of Social Justice in Nanded.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivankar confirmed that no arrest has been made so far and that further investigation is underway.
Officials added that a Zero FIR initially registered in Ahilyanagar has since been transferred to Pune Police for further action.
