Doesn't he know DMK lost power? Manickam Tagore after MLA's arrest over Vijay remarks
Congress MP Manickam Tagore hit out at DMK MLA Anita R Radhakrishnan after his arrest over alleged remarks against Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay. Tagore said Radhakrishnan had moved away from responsible political discourse and questioned whether he understood the current political situation.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee chief Manickam Tagore on Friday criticised DMK MLA Anita R Radhakrishnan after the legislator was arrested over alleged defamatory remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Radhakrishnan, a former minister and MLA from Tiruchendur, was arrested after the Madras High Court rejected his bail plea.
Tagore said Radhakrishnan had moved away from responsible political discourse and questioned whether he understood the current political situation. He also said political leaders should maintain decency while attacking rivals and expressed hope that the opposition would avoid derogatory remarks in future.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the memorial of late Chief Minister Kamaraj in Chennai, the Congress MP said Radhakrishnan had "failed" to realise that his party was no longer in power. "Is he aware of the current political situation? Doesn't he realise that the DMK has lost power?" Tagore asked. He added, "There should be some decency in speaking and attacking political leaders. I hope after this, the opposition will learn how to speak and not utter anything derogatory."
Radhakrishnan, a strongman from Tuticorin district, had on June 20 allegedly made derogatory remarks against the chief minister, following which the TVK filed a police complaint. Police said cases were registered against him under Section 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and Section 353(2) for statements conducing to public mischief. While dismissing his bail plea, Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan orally observed that as a member of the Legislative Assembly, Radhakrishnan should not have made such statements.
On Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar's recent review meeting with officials in Madurai, Tagore said, "it is unfortunate that the Governor is indulging in such activities. If he wants to do Goa-like politics, he should go there. I request him not to exceed his limits," the Congress leader said. Overall, Tagore linked his criticism of Radhakrishnan to a broader call for restraint in political speech while also attacking the Governor's recent actions.
