Monsoon Tracker Update: Gurugram Police advises corporates to adopt work from home amid heavy rain alert

With heavy rainfall continuing in Gurugram and more showers forecast, the Gurugram Police on Tuesday issued an advisory urging corporate offices and private institutions to implement work-from-home arrangements wherever feasible to ease traffic congestion and ensure public safety.

The police warned that persistent rain is likely to cause waterlogging across several major roads and intersections, leading to severe traffic snarls during peak office hours. Monsoon Update India: 30 stranded as luxury bus gets stuck in floodwaters amid heavy rain in Navsari

Heavy rainfall disrupted normal life in Gujarat's Navsari district on Tuesday after a luxury bus carrying around 30 passengers got stranded in floodwaters on a service road near the Kharel overbridge along the National Highway.

The SR Travels luxury bus, which was travelling from Navsari to Rajasthan, became stuck after rising water levels submerged the service road. With strong currents and waterlogging making it impossible for the vehicle to move, the passengers — including women and children — remained trapped inside the bus for more than two hours awaiting rescue.

According to officials, a car on the opposite side of the service road also got stranded in the strong flow of water, highlighting the impact of the heavy rainfall in the area.

Rescue teams reached the spot around two hours after receiving information about the incident and launched an operation to evacuate those trapped. After nearly two hours of rescue efforts, all passengers aboard the bus were safely brought to safety.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Heavy rainfall has lashed several parts of Navsari, leading to waterlogging and disrupting road traffic. Authorities have urged residents and commuters to avoid inundated stretches and exercise caution as the wet weather continues.

Delhi-NCR Rainfall: Road caves in on Delhi-Jaipur highway after heavy rain, 10-km traffic jam

A portion of the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway (NH-48) caved in near the Sunbeam Company in Gurugram's Narsinghpur area on Tuesday following heavy rainfall, triggering massive traffic congestion and prompting authorities to issue a traffic advisory with alternate routes for commuters.

The road cave-in disrupted traffic movement on one of the busiest stretches of the highway, resulting in a traffic jam stretching nearly 8 to 10 kilometres from IFFCO Chowk to Narsinghpur. Hundreds of vehicles were left stranded as traffic came to a standstill, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

Following the incident, district authorities and the traffic police rushed to the spot to assess the situation and regulate traffic. In view of the severe congestion, police issued a route diversion advisory for motorists travelling from Delhi towards Jaipur.

According to the advisory, commuters can take a left turn from Rajiv Chowk and use the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) to continue their journey. Alternatively, motorists can turn left from Hero Honda Chowk and proceed via the SPR to reach their destination. Vehicles coming from Delhi have also been advised to use the Dwarka Expressway to avoid the affected stretch of NH-48.

Authorities said the road collapsed due to incessant rainfall, which weakened the surface and led to the cave-in. Efforts are underway to repair the damaged portion of the highway and restore normal traffic movement.

Motorists have been urged to follow traffic advisories and use the recommended alternative routes until the affected stretch is repaired and reopened for regular traffic.

Maharashtra Weather Update: Heavy rain disrupts Vasai-Virar rail services, commuters stranded amid delays

Heavy rain severely disrupted suburban rail services on Mumbai's Western Railway network on Tuesday after waterlogging on tracks between Vasai and Virar forced authorities to curtail several local train services, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.

According to railway officials, tracks between Vasai and Virar were inundated following incessant rainfall, affecting the movement of suburban trains. As a safety measure, several Virar-bound local trains were short-terminated at Vasai Road station and sent back towards Churchgate instead of completing their scheduled journey.

The disruption led to massive overcrowding at railway stations, with passengers waiting for hours as train services remained affected. Office-goers returning home and those travelling to work bore the brunt of the disruption, with many struggling to find alternative modes of transport.

Visuals from stations showed large crowds gathering on platforms as commuters waited for updates on train operations. Several passengers were forced to remain inside station premises while others opted for buses, taxis and private vehicles to reach their destinations.

Railway authorities said the decision to regulate train movement was taken in the interest of passenger safety as continuous rainfall caused water to accumulate on the tracks. Services are expected to normalise once the water level recedes and track conditions are declared safe for operations.

Heavy rainfall continued to lash parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with authorities urging commuters to check the latest travel updates before beginning their journey.
