Mumbai biker, 24, dies after speeding truck rams motorcycle in Chhattisgarh
Riddhi Thakkar, 24, was killed after a trailer hit her motorcycle on NH-30 while she was travelling with a Mumbai biking group. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are examining CCTV footage to trace the driver who fled.
A 24-year-old woman from Mumbai died after her motorcycle was hit by a speeding trailer truck on National Highway 30 in Chhattisgarh's Dhamtari district early Wednesday, police said. Riddhi Thakkar, a resident of Kandivali West, was travelling with a group of around 23 motorcycle riders from Mumbai who were on their way to explore Bastar.
According to the police, most members of the group had moved ahead when Riddhi and a few other riders were travelling behind. At around 5-6 am, a speeding trailer allegedly rammed her motorcycle from behind near Markatola Ghat on NH-30. The impact threw her onto the road and left her critically injured.
After receiving information about the crash, emergency responders took Riddhi to a nearby health centre. Following initial treatment, doctors referred her to Shriram Hospital in Dhamtari due to the severity of her injuries. She was declared dead by doctors after being brought to the Dhamtari hospital.
POLICE SEARCHING FOR TRAILER DRIVER
The trailer driver allegedly fled the spot along with the vehicle after the accident. Police reached the site and launched an investigation, while efforts are underway to trace the vehicle and identify the driver.
Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from cameras installed near the accident site and recording statements from Riddhi's fellow riders.
FAMILY INFORMED, PROBE UNDERWAY
Police have informed Riddhi's family about her death and sent her body for post-mortem examination. The accident has left members of the motorcycle group shocked and grieving.
