Rijiju described the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 as crucial for protecting the interests of students, youth and the integrity of public examinations.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said members from both the treasury and Opposition benches had prepared thoroughly, with several Opposition MPs also submitting amendments to the Bill.

The consensus reached after Om Birla's intervention was seen as an example of parliamentary dialogue, with all parties agreeing to discuss a key national issue through democratic debate.

Congress MP Pawan Khera alleged that students continued to face brutal police action, including the use of AK-47s in Bihar, and demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah make a statement in Parliament.

"We once again tried to raise our voices in the Rajya Sabha regarding the barbaric attacks on young people that are still taking place across the country," he said.

Congress MP Pawan Khera on Monday alleged that the reported use of AK-47 rifles against youths in Bihar's Siwan had been "proved" and demanded a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament.

Accusing the government over the police action, Khera said the Opposition would continue to raise the issue and disrupt House proceedings until the Home Minister addressed the incident.

"It is proved that the use of AK-47 against youth was done in Bihar. Until the Union Home Minister comes to the House and gives a statement on this incident, we will keep raising our voice and not let the House function," he said.
