Uddhav Thackeray announces march over Ram Mandir donation row in Nagpur

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday announced a major ‘Ram Raksha’ protest in Nagpur next week over the alleged Ram Temple donation scam, sharpening his attack on the BJP-led Maharashtra government and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The protest will be held in Nagpur, home to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters, in what Thackeray described as a symbolic challenge on the BJP's ideological turf.

The announcement was made during a crucial meeting of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLAs at Matoshree, where Thackeray outlined the party's political strategy and organisational roadmap ahead of key electoral battles.

Addressing party legislators, Thackeray said the agitation against the alleged irregularities in Ram Mandir donations would begin with full force from Nagpur. Drawing a parallel with the Ram Mandir movement, he said just as the movement had its spark from Matoshree, the public campaign against the alleged "theft" of devotees' money would also originate from there.

The Sena UBT supremo directed all MLAs to actively lead protests across Maharashtra and ensure that the issue reaches people at the grassroots. He noted that several opposition parties, including the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP), have already been raising their voices over the alleged scam, and urged his legislators to intensify the campaign.

Apart from the protest programme, Thackeray also reviewed the party's preparedness for the upcoming electoral cycle. He instructed MLAs to closely monitor the ongoing Special Investment Region (SIR) process and remain prepared for elections despite the uncertainty surrounding the delimitation exercise.

Emphasising the need to strengthen the organisation, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief announced a restructuring of the party at the district level. He said new responsibilities would be assigned to local leaders to reinvigorate the organisation and improve coordination ahead of future political contests.

Thackeray also asked MLAs to immediately fill organisational vacancies created after several leaders and office-bearers defected from the party. He stressed that the vacant posts left behind by rebels and their associates should be filled without delay to ensure that the party machinery remains fully functional at every level.

The meeting comes as Shiv Sena (UBT) steps up its political offensive against the Mahayuti government, with Thackeray seeking to rally party workers around issues that he believes could resonate with voters ahead of the next round of elections.
