Weather Forecast Today: Fresh low pressure over Bay of Bengal to reach South Odisha-Andhra Coast, says IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood during the next 24 hours. As per IMD, the low pressure system is likely to move west-north-westwards and reach south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts during the next 24 hours.

The weather agency has predicted light rain along with thunderstorms in Chennai and suburbs for the next two days and has forecast moderate rainfall over several places in North Tamil Nadu.

According to a report published in The Hindu, rainfall is likely to lash many parts of Tamil Nadu till today. The weather agency has forecast fairly widespread rain over Tamil Nadu and has predicted thunderstorms with moderate rain till Wednesday.

According to the IMD, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alapuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki districts of Kerala are likely to receive heavy rainfall today. An orange alert has been sounded for the state and the weather department has predicted thunderstorms with lightning at one or two places from October 15 to October 21. Heavy rainfall is likely to continue in the state till October 15, 2021.
