4 killed, 19 injured as sleeper bus crashes into trailer on Yamuna Expressway

A double-decker sleeper bus travelling from Lucknow to Noida hit a trailer on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura early Monday. Four passengers died, 19 were injured, while police are investigating the cause of the crash.

At least four people were killed and 19 others injured after a double-decker sleeper bus collided with a trailer on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district early Monday, police said. The accident took place near milestone 112 under the Raya police station limits.

According to officials, the bus, carrying around 65 passengers, was travelling from Lucknow to Noida when it rammed into the trailer. The impact left four passengers dead on the spot and injured 19 others. The injured were rushed to the district hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Police said efforts are underway to identify the deceased. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is in progress.

5 DIE AS STORM-TOPPLED NEEM TREE CRUSHES E-RICKSHAW

In a separate incident, five people were killed, and three others injured after a roadside neem tree collapsed on an e-rickshaw during a powerful storm in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district on Monday evening, police said.

According to District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma, the e-rickshaw was travelling from Awagarh in Etah district towards Fariha when a sudden storm uprooted a large neem tree, which fell directly onto the vehicle. The impact crushed the e-rickshaw, trapping all eight passengers inside.

Police, fire brigade personnel and local villagers launched a rescue operation, using a JCB machine to remove the tree and pull out the victims. The injured were rushed to the government trauma centre by ambulance, but five of them died before reaching the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Gajendra (28), Haresh Pal (59), Vishnu (20), Aman (17) and Ganga Singh (65). The three injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. The incident also triggered a major traffic jam in the area.
