Important to keep weight in check: Hema Malini on Vinesh Phogat disqualification

BJP MP Hema Malini, responding to the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat at the Olympics, said it is a “lesson for all of us” and emphasised the importance of keeping weight in check, as "even 100 grams matters a lot".

"It is very surprising, and it feels strange that she was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight. It is important to keep weight in check. It is a lesson for all of us. I wish she could lose that 100 grams quickly, but she would not get another opportunity," she said.

Vinesh Phogat, who had qualified for the wrestling final after winning the semifinals, was disqualified at the Paris Olympics event on Wednesday morning for being 150 grams overweight. Her final match was scheduled to take place in the evening.
