During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to Jakarta, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto praised his leadership, stating, "I openly admit that I follow your career, and I copy a lot of your programmes, and it's proving to be successful for us." Indonesian President also highlighted shared demographic and agricultural challenges, acknowledging India's developmental progress. The diplomatic visit marked a significant step in India-Indonesia bilateral relations, resulting in the signing of fourteen Memorandums of Understanding. Key agreements include defence, trade, critical minerals, maritime security, and strategic connectivity. Notably, the nations finalised a defence procurement contract for multiple variants of BrahMos missile batteries and Astra Beyond Visual Range missiles, to be integrated with Indonesia's Su-30 fighters. Indonesia has emerged as the first country to formally initiate procurement of these Indian defence systems. The visit further solidifies cooperation across sectors including agriculture, education, and intelligence sharing, reflecting India's growing role in global defence exports.
