The Supreme Court has directed that an open space adjacent to the Bhojshala site in Madhya Pradesh be provided to the Muslim community for offering Friday prayers. This ad hoc arrangement will remain in place while the top court considers a challenge to the Madhya Pradesh High Court order regarding the disputed site. The Supreme Court refused to impose an interim stay on the High Court order but sought responses from the Archaeological Survey of India and the state government. Furthermore, the court instructed the Archaeological Survey of India not to carry out any structural changes at the site without prior permission. During the hearing, the bench emphasised the sensitive nature of the matter, urging all parties to avoid remarks that could disrupt peace and law and order. The state government questioned the delay in challenging the High Court order, which was passed two months ago. The Supreme Court is scheduled to resume hearing the matter after three weeks.
