Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence over what he described as the "brutal assault" on students who marched towards Parliament on Monday, demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. The 'Sansad Chalo' march, organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), turned violent as protesters clashed with police in central Delhi.

Questioning the Prime Minister's silence, Akhilesh asked, "Can't he (PM Modi) make a statement in Parliament for the country's youth? If he can speak outside, why not inside Parliament?"

Highlighting the alleged police action against the protesters, the Samajwadi Party chief claimed several students suffered head injuries and broken limbs during the crackdown.

"The clothes of women students were torn, students were hit with lathis... Their limbs were broken. Is this the way to treat our students?" he said.

He further asked, "Will you tear the clothes of our daughters? Is this the way to treat them?"
