Abhishek Banerjee seeks 15-day time from CID to appear in forged signature case

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has summoned senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee in connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged forged signatures of party MLAs. Following the notice to appear at the CID headquarters, Abhishek Banerjee sent a letter through an advocate seeking a fifteen-day extension, citing illness and a recent attack by a crowd. The controversy revolves around a letter endorsing the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly. According to the primary investigation, signatures of thirteen MLAs were allegedly forged, with three already denying they signed the document. A Special Investigation Team has been formed by the CID to further probe the forgery allegations surrounding the influential political figure.
