The villagers, primarily women, accused the influential leader of taking cut money ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 25,000 to facilitate the PM housing scheme. The total extorted amount is estimated to be between Rs 10-12 lakh. When the crowd attempted to confront him, police intervened, rescued the leader from under the bed, and detained him for interrogation.
