FIRST SEMI HIGH-SPEED RAIL PROJECT IN INDIA

The 134-km double-line rail corridor is being developed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Officials say the project will act as a model for future semi high-speed rail expansion across the country.

The railway line is planned with indigenous technology as part of the government’s push for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.

FASTER TRAVEL BETWEEN AHMEDABAD AND DHOLERA

According to reports, trains on the route are expected to operate at speeds of up to 200 kmph, while the line is being designed for 220 kmph.

The project is expected to reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to under an hour. Some reports say the journey between Sabarmati and Dholera could take around 48 minutes, while travel between Sarkhej and Dholera may take nearly 34 minutes.

BOOST FOR INDUSTRY AND CONNECTIVITY

The corridor is expected to support both passenger and freight movement. It will improve access to the Dholera Special Investment Region, which is being developed as a major industrial and manufacturing hub.
