Indore gets new 4-lane Shastriya Bridge as Railways clears Rs 139 crore project. Details
Indian Railways has approved a Rs 139 crore Shastriya Bridge redevelopment project in Indore. The new four-lane road over bridge will improve urban mobility, reduce congestion and strengthen rail-road connectivity.

Indian Railways has approved the rebuilding of the Shastriya Bridge in Indore at a cost of Rs 139 crore, giving a major push to urban mobility and rail-road connectivity in Madhya Pradesh. The project involves the reconstruction of Road Over Bridge (ROB) No. 103-C in Indore Yard, a key route used by thousands of commuters every day.
Planned as a modern four-lane bridge, the project is expected to reduce traffic congestion, improve road connectivity and make daily travel safer and smoother.
The approval is part of Indian Railways’ wider programme to modernise road over bridges, road under bridges and related transport infrastructure across the country.
NEW FOUR-LANE SHASTRIYA BRIDGE FOR BETTER TRAFFIC FLOW
The approved project includes the construction of a four-lane road over bridge featuring a 72-metre camel-back superstructure with PSC girders and a full viaduct arrangement.
The bridge has been designed to handle rising traffic volumes while improving the movement of vehicles across the area.
To support local traffic and maintenance activities, 6-metre-wide service roads will be built on both sides beneath the bridge.
These additions are expected to make commuting easier and improve access around the structure.
INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT
The redevelopment goes beyond bridge construction. Existing sewer infrastructure will be shifted and upgraded through new sewer lines to ensure uninterrupted drainage services.
The project also includes the relocation and renewal of electrical infrastructure. New poles, lighting systems and related equipment will be installed to improve public utility services and better integrate urban infrastructure around the bridge.
