UPPSC PCS 2026 notification out: Apply for 500 vacancies by July 27

UPPSC PCS 2026 Notification: The UPPSC has opened applications for the PCS Examination 2026 for around 500 posts. The notification sets out OTR, eligibility, fee and exam rules ahead of the July 27 deadline.

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released the notification for the Combined State/ Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Examination 2026. As part of the invitation, applications for around 500 vacancies across administrative and allied services will be filled. The online application process which started on June 25, will continue till July 27. The official website to register online is uppsc.up.nic.in.

According to the notification, candidates must complete the One Time Registration (OTR) before applying. Those who have not generated an OTR number have been advised to do so at least 72 hours before submitting the application, as applications can only be submitted after OTR authentication.

The commission has fixed July 27 as the last date for payment of examination fee and submission of online applications, while August 3 will be the final date for correction or modification of submitted application forms.

UPPSC PCS 2026 APPLICATION: AROUND 500 POSTS ON OFFER

UPPSC said the recruitment drive is for about 500 vacancies, although the number may increase or decrease depending on departmental requirements.

The examination will be conducted for several Group A and Group B posts, including Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Block Development Officer (BDO), Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax), Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), District Basic Education Officer, Commercial Tax Officer, Food Safety Officer, Excise Inspector, Deputy Jailor, District Programme Officer, Child Development Project Officer and Principal Government Intermediate College.

UPPSC PCS 2026: ELIGIBILITY AND AGE LIMIT

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognised university by the last date of application. Some posts require additional qualifications such as law, engineering, education, agriculture, psychology, computer science or other specialised degrees.

For most posts, applicants should be between 21 and 40 years of age as on July 1, 2026, meaning they should not have been born before July 2, 1986, or after July 1, 2005. The notification also provides age relaxations for reserved categories, persons with disabilities, state government employees and ex-servicemen, in accordance with government rules.

UPPSC PCS 2026: SELECTION PROCESS

The recruitment process will comprise a Preliminary Examination, followed by the Main (Written) Examination and an Interview. The preliminary examination will be held at various centres across Uttar Pradesh. Candidates shortlisted in the prelims will have to submit a separate application for the mains.

The notification states that the Preliminary Examination will have negative marking, with one-third of the marks assigned to a question deducted for every incorrect answer. Paper II (CSAT) will remain a qualifying paper requiring 33 per cent marks, while merit will be based on Paper I scores.

UPPSC PCS 2026: APPLICATION FEE

Candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS categories will have to pay Rs 125 (Rs 100 examination fee plus Rs 25 online processing fee). The fee is Rs 65 for SC/ ST candidates and Rs 25 for PwD candidates. Ex-servicemen are also required to pay Rs 65.

The commission has advised candidates to preserve records of every stage of the application process, including OTR, fee payment and final submission, and to regularly check the official website for updates regarding the examination.
