Shahid Kapoor's lean, athletic physique has long been a talking point, whether he is preparing for an intense dance sequence, an action-packed role, or simply maintaining his fitness between projects. And with fans currently swooning over his look in the upcoming film Cocktail 2, curiosity around his fitness regimen is at an all-time high.

Apart from his rigorous gym routine, the actor is equally mindful of what he puts on his plate. And no, it is never a fad diet that he follows. In fact, his approach to nutrition is far less complicated that many might expect.

His nutritionist Nicole Kedia, in a recent interview with Mans World, gave a glimpse of Kapoor's daily eating habits. Oh, and yes he is vegetarian and yes, each of his meal is rich in protein.

"Protein is prioritised in every meal," Kedia said, with carbohydrates strategically included to support energy levels and workout performance. Whether he's aiming for a lean, shredded look or maintaining his physique, protein remains the cornerstone of his nutrition plan.

His day often begins with chia seed water for hydration. His favourite breakfast is vegetable uttapam with sambar and coconut chutney. “Lunch is usually balanced with vegetables, millet or rice, and a protein source like paneer or lentil. He loves his Indian lunches,” Kedia told the publication ahead of the release of Kapoor-starrer Cocktail 2.

As for the dinner, Kedia said it is “often soup, with a protein- packed wrap and sauted vegetables that help support recovery and muscle repair.”

One of the biggest misconceptions in fitness is that building muscle requires a meat-heavy diet. Kapoor's nutrition plan demonstrates otherwise.

“Indian cuisine provides excellent vegetarian protein sources. With the right modifications, carb-heavy meals can easily be turned into protein-packed options,” Kedia said.

She adds meals like khichdi that becomes protein-enriched with lentils, chickpea biryani with vegetable raita and moong dal kebabs with aloo mattar and rice.

“The meals are all balanced to enhance protein and fibre. The idea is never to make food feel restrictive or foreign. Sustainability comes when nutrition fits culture and lifestyle,” she added.

When Kapoor isn't preparing for a role, the rigidity of his diet eases, but the fundamentals remain unchanged.

There's more room for family meals and comfort foods, yet mindful eating continues to guide his choices. Kedia revealed that the actor rarely dines out, and even when he does, his meals remain balanced and portion-controlled.

A clean protein powder is also a part of Kapoor’s daily nutrition.

In addition to following a balanced diet and using protein powder, Kedia said the actor also supplements with vitamin B12, vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, and magnesium.

The biggest lesson from Shahid Kapoor's nutrition plan isn't a secret food, detox, or quick-fix hack. Instead, it's a commitment to consistency, balanced nutrition, and protein-rich vegetarian meals that support both performance and recovery.

As for his upcoming film Cocktail 2 it is slated for release on June 19. The film also features Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles.
