LIMINAL THRESHOLD

Till August 18 | Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad

Curated by Ruchi Sharma, the show presents a contemplative body of work by Sumit Sarkar. Familiar domestic objects, layered surfaces and mythological references become vehicles for reflection, creating evocative spaces where personal histories and collective cultural memories converge in moments suspended between reality, imagination and emotional experience.

PRINCES & PEOPLE OF INDIA

July 10-August 1 | DAG, New Delhi

This exhibition revisits the remarkable visual record created by Emily Eden during her travels through India in the late 1830s. Featuring a complete set of lithographs from Portraits of the Princes and People of India alongside letters, sketchbooks and archival materials, the show offers a fascinating glimpse into the Punjab of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, while reflecting on the complexities of colonial observation and representation.

SOHRAB HURA: A WINTER SUMMER

Till July 18 | Experimenter, Mumbai

Bringing together four significant bodies of work, the exhibition surveys nearly two decades of Sohrab Hura’s engagement with landscape, labour, memory and social realities. From the snow-covered terrains of Kashmir to the parched villages of Madhya Pradesh, it examines how place, politics and lived experience intersect, revealing the contradictions and inequalities often concealed beneath nationhood and belonging.

ANISH KAPOOR

Till October 18 | Hayward Gallery, London

Occupying the entirety of the Hayward Gallery, this major exhibition surveys the immersive and monumental practice of Anish Kapoor. Alongside iconic mirror sculptures and works employing Vantablack, the exhibition introduces recent paintings, sculptures and large-scale installations that challenge perception and spatial awareness. Marking the Southbank Centre’s 75th anniversary, the show reaffirms Kapoor’s notable influence on contemporary sculpture and installation art.

MARATHI CHITRAPAT

Till July 31 | National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai

Celebrating more than a century of Marathi cinema, Marathi Chitrapat: Stories and Stardom traces the evolution of one of India’s most influential film industries through archival photographs, posters, publications and memorabilia. Curated by Neha Kamat, the exhibition highlights legendary actors, filmmakers and photographers, while exploring the cultural and visual history that shaped Maharashtra’s cinema-tic identity.
