The film hints at a darker plot as it features actor Disha Patani and veteran Shabana Azmi as the formidable antagonist Nafisa. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the teaser blends brooding intensity, sharp action sequences, staying true to the 2007 original’s emotional core while introducing new layers of vengeance and rage.
The teaser, unveiled on June 29 to mark 19 years since the cult hit’s release, builds anticipation through its atmospheric visuals and hint of high-octane drama. The video begins with Emraan's Shivam recalling painful memories of his past. We then see glimpses of his hand-to-hand combat as a ripped street fighter as well as combating ganglords while Shabana appears in her fierce appearance. Disha's character, though unknown, is portrayed playing a violin. The teaser ends with Emraan saying, "Is baar ya to ye Awarapan khatam hoga ya main (Either this restlessness ends this time, or I do)."
Earlier, while introducing Shabana's character, producer Vishesh Bhatt said, "Nafisa could only ever be Shabana ji. She brings to this role an impact, a power and a presence that are entirely her own. She came home on her birthday, and everything found its place."
Backed by Vishesh Bhatt, the film promises a stirring soundtrack with Mithoon and Sayeed Quadri reimagining fan favourites Toh Phir Aao and Tera Mera Rishta alongside fresh compositions. A month-long promotional campaign kicks off, focusing on music drops and further reveals ahead of the worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
The film's script has been written by Bilal Siddiqui while the shooting schedules in Bangkok and Rajasthan were completed under tight security, lending authenticity to the rugged, immersive world.
