Months after collaborating on Single Salma, actor Huma Qureshi and filmmaker Nachiket Samant are back together with a very different story. The teaser of their upcoming crime thriller Baby Do Die Do was unveiled on Tuesday, offering a glimpse into a mystery-driven narrative led by a woman carrying a dark past and a red umbrella.

The 90-second teaser opens with a young girl's voiceover declaring that the story begins with her death. She quickly adds, however, that the tale is less about her and more about her deaf and mute sister.

The narrative then jumps 15 years ahead, introducing Huma's character as a guarded woman seemingly haunted by the past. In one striking sequence, she is seen travelling on a Mumbai local train during the monsoon, quietly observing strangers from behind a scarf that conceals her face.

As the teaser unfolds, a group of men catcall her at a bus stop late at night, unaware of who she really is. Moments later, she pulls out a folded red umbrella, described as her weapon of choice. The film then introduces her as "India's first desi hitwoman".

The teaser also hints at an ongoing investigation. A police officer is heard urging someone to act before "she dies", while Seema Pahwa's character suggests that the woman in question is more likely to put herself in danger than seek safety.

Even the film's title appears to carry a clue. The phrase "Do Die Do" plays on a do-or-die philosophy and is presented in Hindi as "Kar Mar Kar" - a common Maharashtrian surname that may be linked to Huma's character and her family history.

The teaser arrives as Huma takes on a new role behind the scenes. She recently launched Saleem Siblings with Saqib Saleem, who had also co-produced Single Salma.

The film also marks a new milestone for Huma, who makes her debut as a producer alongside brother and actor Saqib Saleem under their banner, Saleem Siblings. Set for a theatrical release on July 3, Baby Do Die Do also stars Seema Pahwa, Chunky Panday, Sikandar Kher and Vidya Malvade.
