The teaser of Batwara 1947, set against the backdrop of the 1947 India-Pakistan Partition, has been officially unveiled, marking a highly anticipated collaboration between actor Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi. Following the initial release of its motion and character posters, the project is being framed as a historical drama centred on courage, sacrifice, and the enduring human spirit during one of the subcontinent's most tumultuous eras.

The one-minute, five-second teaser depicts the chaos of 1947. Shifting quickly from the promise of independence to the grim reality of the Partition, the footage zeroes in on the violence and devastation that followed the creation of Pakistan, highlighting the immense human cost of the division.

In one of the scenes, Sunny’s character directly confronts rioters as they threaten to unleash chaos amidst the Partition violence. The teaser ends with the caption, "In times of hatred and fear, he chose courage (sic)."

Batwara 1947 features Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh, and marks the reunion of National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades.

Earlier, the character posters of the actors were unveiled. The cast reveal presents them through distinct looks and expressions, with the makers describing them as people who endured a period of upheaval and emerged as examples of courage.

Aamir Khan Productions' Instagram handle wrote, "In a world torn apart, their story was a testament to courage. Meet the people who lived through it all Batwara 1947, in theatres from 14th August (sic)."

The film marks a significant milestone as a rare collaboration between Sunny and Aamir. Batwara 1947 has music by AR Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on Partition Day, August 14, 2026.
