The release date for Meghna Gulzar’s next directorial, Daayra, has been officially announced alongside a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the film's sets. The film, set for a September 18 release, features Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran as police officers.

To mark the release date, the makers have shared a raw, unseen look into the world and making of Daayra. Positioned as a gritty exploration of crime, justice, and punishment, the film features Kareena and Prithviraj donning intense avatars as police cops, navigating a high-stakes narrative where the lines between law and justice begin to blur.

While sharing the glimpse, Meghna Gulzar, on her Instagram handle, wrote, "Towards our finish line. #Daayra in Cinemas on 18th September 2026...(sic)." Amid the BTS sequences, the video caption reads, "Some lines are drawn. Some are crossed. A choice awaits (sic)."

Daayra brings Kareena and Prithviraj together on-screen for the first time. Kareena, who has worked in Hindi cinema for more than 25 years, was last seen in director Rohit Shetty's Singham Again (2024).

Prithviraj, who received praise for his performance in the 2024 film, The Goat Life, was last seen in Vilayath Budha (2025). The actor will next be seen in director Nissam Basheer's next film, i, Nobody (2026).

Inspired by true events, the thriller is written by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal and Meghna Gulzar. The film marks Meghna’s third collaboration with Junglee Pictures after Raazi (2017) and Talvar (2015), and the first co-production between Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios.

The teaser release date of Daayra has not yet been announced. More details on the film's plot are yet to be disclosed.
