Mahaprabhu Jagannath trailer debuts before 10,000 devotees: Tale of faith and unity

The trailer of Mahaprabhu Jagannath was unveiled by Pujya Shri Indresh Upadhyay Maharaj Ji during Shrimad Bhagwat Katha in Cuttack before more than 10,000 devotees. The film narrates the story of Lord Vishnu's incarnation as Jagannath to save his devotees from the demon, Aham.

The trailer of Mahaprabhu Jagannath was unveiled by Pujya Shri Indresh Upadhyay Maharaj Ji during his ongoing Shrimad Bhagwat Katha in Cuttack, Odisha, in the presence of more than 10,000 devotees. The film shows the story of demon Aham's atrocities, which led to Lord Vishnu's incarnation as Jagannath to save humanity. The makers said the event was the biggest physical trailer launch for any animation film in India.

As the trailer played on screen, the audience broke into chants of "Jai Jagannath." The launch brought together a large live gathering and the film’s public introduction, with the trailer presenting a story centred on devotion, unity and faith.

Billed as the first theatrical pan-India animated feature film on Lord Jagannath, Mahaprabhu Jagannath uses animation to present the subject in a way aimed at younger audiences. The trailer focusses on the bond between Lord Jagannath and his devotees, and presents that relationship through a visual style intended to make the story accessible to children.

The trailer of Mahaprabhu Jagannath shows the demon, Aham, symbolising arrogance getting a boon from Lord Brahma, to get the powers of the holy trinity – Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. After becoming God-like invincible, Aham starts atrocities against humanity. To stop the demon, Lord Vishnu incarnates as Jagannath, giving hope to the devotees praying for protection from the evil forces.

Speaking after the launch, Durga Prasad Dalai, Producer and Founder of Ele Animations Pvt. Ltd., said, "To see ten thousand hearts beating together in devotion while watching our trailer is an experience I cannot put into words. This spectacular reception proves that when you wrap our rich Indian heritage in world-class animation, it deeply moves both the youngest child and the eldest member of the family. We created this film to keep our roots alive for the next generation in a format that is thrilling, vibrant, and visually spectacular. We are ready to take this divine energy from the holy pavilions, straight to the big screens across India."

Produced by Durga Prasad Dalai under the banner of Ele Animations Pvt Ltd, the film builds on the success of the Pogo channel television series, Jay Jagannath (2024). It is directed by Shripad Warkhedkar, with screenplay and dialogues by Pallavi Sharma, while Aviral Kumar has composed the music.

Mahaprabhu Jagannath is set for a theatrical release in India on July 10 in Hindi, Odia, and Telugu.
