Shweta Tripathi on Mirzapur The Movie: Was confused about going back to being Golu
Actor Shweta Tripathi said returning to season one Golu for Mirzapur: The Movie was initially confusing. The shift back to earlier character dynamics after years of revenge made the transition challenging.

The first teaser of Mirzapur: The Movie was unveiled on Thursday, giving fans their first glimpse of the beloved crime franchise's transition from OTT to the big screen. Reuniting fan-favourite characters, including Kaleen Bhaiya, Munna, Guddu and Golu, the film promises to bring the familiar world of Mirzapur to cinemas on September 4.
In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Shweta Tripathi admitted that returning to the Season 1 version of Golu Gupta was one of the most confusing and challenging parts of filming the movie.
She shared that filming the feature felt no different from working on the three seasons of the web series. Shweta maintained that the acting process remained largely unchanged, "It was not fast-paced. Actually, the filming took as much time as it should have. So in terms of acting or performance, it was not different."
However, what truly felt different was revisiting the world of the first season after nearly nine years. Recalling how returning to the original dynamic with characters like Sweety, Bablu and Guddu initially left her disoriented, the actor said, "I have spent so many years with the emotion of revenge and frustration. Sweety was no more, and Bablu died; all her dreams were snatched away. And now suddenly, Sweety is standing in front of you, and Bablu is here. Guddu is back to what he was... and not to how Golu was feeling about him in the previous season."
The actor elaborated on how slipping back into the younger, more innocent version of Golu wasn't easy: "Day one, I can't tell you how confusing it was. I didn't understand. I was confused because I didn't know... In season one, Golu was a different girl. But then slowly it all fell into place."
Calling herself a fan of the franchise, Shweta said she is now eagerly waiting to experience Mirzapur: The Movie with audiences in theatres. "And now I can't wait to watch it with everybody because, before anything, I am a fan of Mirzapur. So when it will be on the big screen, it will be fun," she concluded, adding that she recently sent a picture of a cinema screen to her co-stars, saying that this was where their film would be screened and how exciting the experience would be.
Mirzapur: The Movie also stars Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Jitendra Kumar, Rasika Dugal and Divyendu Sharma.
