Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana is set for a theatrical release in Diwali 2026.

A content creator who recently visited the sets of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic Ramayana has claimed that the makers may have deliberately released an inferior version of the film’s first Lord Rama teaser to trigger online discussion. Dhruv Parikshit, who makes videos on films and cinema, made the claim after attending a creators’ day on the film’s sets.

According to Dhruv, he spoke to a member of the VFX team during the visit and was told that the makers had better versions of the scenes shown in the teaser. He later deleted that comment and posted a fresh response, but screenshots of the original remark soon began circulating online.

Earlier this week, the makers of Ramayana hosted a creators’ day on the film’s sets, where several content creators met director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra, and actors Yash and Ranbir Kapoor. Dhruv, who was among those present, first posted several pictures on Instagram and later shared videos of his visit on Wednesday.

In the comments section of one of those videos, when asked whether the VFX work shown to visitors was incomplete, Dhruv replied, “Yes, it was incomplete. But the vision they have, I genuinely can’t put it into words. The scenes I witnessed there were on the level of Avatar. I’m not exaggerating, they’re truly cooking something wonderful. The character designs and the world of Ramayana feel incredibly immersive.”

He then added, “I also got a chance to talk to one of their VFX artists. He told me that the creators deliberately uploaded a nerfed version of the Rama glimpse. They had better versions of those scenes, yet they intentionally chose to release the incomplete one. Why? Because discussions and criticism across the internet translate into free marketing.”

By Thursday, however, Dhruv had deleted that reply and replaced it with another comment. In the new response, he said work on the VFX was still under way and that a lot of good work had already been done. He also said some incomplete footage had been shown to them, but he believed it had already been completed months earlier. He went on to praise the character designs, describing them as gorgeous and saying the film looked like a beautiful fantasy world in an Indian setting that would make for a strong theatrical experience.

Despite the modification, screenshots of his original comment were soon doing the rounds on the internet. The discussion comes months after the makers released the film’s first teaser, titled Rama, which introduced Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, the film’s protagonist.

While the teaser was praised for its scale and grandeur, many viewers criticised its VFX and CGI, as well as the design of some of the rakshashas (demons) that Lord Rama was shown fighting. The film’s team later said that the shortcomings would be addressed before release. Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey and Sunny Deol in lead roles. Part 1 is scheduled to release ahead of Diwali 2026, with Part 2 set to follow a year later.
