Shahid Kapoor confused by Cocktail 2 adult rating, calls it a family watch
Shahid Kapoor has questioned why Cocktail 2 received an A certificate despite calling it suitable for family viewing. The issue has surfaced alongside the cast's denial of rumours about a lesbian storyline and a physical threesome.

Actor Shahid Kapoor has reacted to his new release Cocktail 2 being given an A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Homi Adajania directorial, featuring actors Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon, was released on June 19. During a social media interaction with fans, Shahid questioned the adult rating and emphasised there was nothing objectionable in the film.
In a chat with his followers, Shahid said, “Iss film ke andar koi bhi aisi cheez nahi hai jisse aap ko aapatti ho sakti hai. I know we have gotten an adult certificate; I am figuring out why. Mujhe nahi samaj mein aaya. Iss film mein teen logon ki kahaani hai. Sabke saath dekh sakte hain. (There’s nothing in this film that you would object to. I don’t understand why we received an A-rating. This is a story of three people that can be watched by everyone).” He also said he hoped viewers would leave the cinema with a large smile on their faces after watching the film.
Ahead of the release, the team also addressed speculation around the film’s plot. For some time, there had been rumours that Cocktail 2 would feature a budding love story between Rashmika and Kriti’s characters. After the trailer was released, some viewers also picked up on the word “threesome” and wondered whether the film was about polygamy. Responding to that, Kriti said, “There is no lesbian story,” while Rashmika added, “I know, we do have that chemistry.” Kriti further said, “We are three straight people, guys. It's only an emotional threesome, not physical.”
Cocktail 2 is directed by Homi Adajania, co-written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under Maddock Films and Luv Films. Shahid plays Kunal, Rashmika plays Diya and Kriti plays Ally in the film, which follows a long-term couple whose relationship is shaken when a third person enters the fold.
India Today, in its review of the film, wrote, "In a nutshell, Cocktail 2 is a beautiful-looking love story with surprisingly little love in it. By the end, you'll remember the songs, the locations and the outfits, but you'll probably want to forget the characters and the story (sic)."
Cocktail 2 theatrically released on June 19.
