Alia Bhatt shares why her 'filmy' daughter Raha Kapoor is meant for stage
Actor Alia Bhatt opened up about daughter Raha Kapoor's growing interests, saying she is meant for the stage. She also reflected on her own childhood dream of becoming an actor.
Actor Alia Bhatt said her daughter Raha Kapoor is meant for the stage and described her as very "filmy". Alia said Raha enjoys music, wants to dance and picks up steps very quickly, even as she continues to explore different interests.
The 33-year-old actor spoke about Raha while attending the Amrit Ratna 2026 summit in New Delhi on Wednesday. During the session, she also looked back at her own childhood and said acting had always been her dream. She recalled spending hours in front of the mirror as a child, performing long before she entered the film industry.
After hearing Alia speak about her early interest in acting, the host asked whether Raha was also showing signs of following a similar path.
Alia laughed and replied, "She is also meant for the stage, if I can say so myself. She loves many things, I would say. Abhi woh sports mein bhi bahut interested hai (She is interested in sports too). She has a keen interest in sports and activities. Woh filmy bhi bahut hai, gaane bhi achhe se sunti hai (She is very filmy and likes to listen to songs too). She wants to dance. She picks up steps very fast."
"So my little girl is still growing and observing and putting her hand into different things, whether it’s art, dance or sports. But she’s a leader and a thinker in her own way," she added.
In an earlier interview with Femina, Alia spoke about Raha’s interest in sport and said she would be happy if her daughter grows up to become an athlete. "I wish for her to actually be an athlete. She's so competitive and she's so athletic. She's only three, but she really jumps around like a bee in a bonnet," she had said.

Alia and Ranbir Kapoor dated for several years before getting married in April 2022. Their relationship began on the sets of Brahmastra. Raha, their first child, was born in November that year. The couple made their first public appearance with Raha on Christmas 2023.
