Asha Bhosle’s ashes were immersed by her family in the Ganga in Varanasi. The prayers and traditional rites were conducted in accordance with the late singer's wishes.

Singer Zanai Bhole, her granddaughter, was seen breaking down during the rituals, which were also attended by her son, Anand Bhosle.

Asha Bhosle died on April 12 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, due to multiple organ failure. She was admitted to the hospital a day earlier, after complaining of a chest infection and exhaustion. The legendary singer's last rites were conducted with full state honours at Shivaji Park Crematorium in Dadar on April 13.

Zanai, in an emotional Instagram post dedicated to her late grandmother, wrote, "After a lot of reflection I realise you taught us how to live, but not how to live without you.. you are missed every second, every hour, every minute with every breath we take, but I also know that you live within me till I hold you in my arms again this way...(heart emoji) (sic)."

Zanai shared a series of pictures with Asha in her post. One photo shows the singer performing with her Zanai abd her son, Anand, while another captures her hugging the granddaughter. A third shows her holding a plate of diyas (oil lamps) during a Diwali celebration.

Asha Bhosle, in her iconic career as a playback singer, proved that relevance has no age. In 1995, she delivered Rangeela Re and Tanha Tanha for AR Rahman in Rangeela. The same year, she sang Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) for Jatin-Lalit, reiterating her prowess at scoring in diverse music genres, effortlessly claiming space in a new era when music was fast changing.

Apart from her 90s songs, the late singer's popular tracks like Dum Maro Dum and Piya Tu Ab To Aaja have found new life among younger listeners.
