David Dhawan turned emotional at the trailer launch event of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai while speaking about son Varun Dhawan and recalling the time the actor stayed by his side during a major health scare. The filmmaker broke down in tears as he praised Varun not just as an actor, but also as a son.
Speaking to the media at the event, David said, “In the hospital, he used to sleep with me when I was there, what more do you want? As an actor, he is improving, whenever you want he can deliver, but as a father, if I tell you, everybody should have a son like Varun."
As David became emotional on stage, Varun was also seen tearing up while trying to comfort his father.

Back in 2022, David Dhawan was hospitalised after suffering a serious health scare linked to diabetes. The filmmaker, who has advanced-stage diabetes, reportedly spent a week in the hospital before returning home.
