The Delhi High Court on Friday postponed the hearing on actor Salman Khan's plea seeking to stop the release of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, a film reportedly inspired by his 1998 blackbuck poaching case and his alleged rivalry with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The matter will now be heard on July 1, with the Court declining to pass any interim order for now.

The case came up before a vacation bench of Justice Madhu Jain, which directed Salman Khan to provide the filmmakers with a complete copy of his lawsuit and all supporting documents before the next hearing. The direction came after the filmmakers told the Court they had received only part of the case papers.

Appearing for Khan, advocate Nizam Pasha argued that although the makers have not announced a release date, they have already unveiled the film's poster and trailer.

Earlier this month, Salman Khan had sent a legal notice to the makers seeking an immediate removal of posters and other promotional material related to the project.

Meanwhile, according to Live Law, seeking an immediate restraint on the film, Khan's counsel submitted, "He's producing a film on my life... he has no right... I have not authorised him."

Khan has alleged that the film unlawfully uses his personality and public image without his consent while presenting events that are closely associated with him.

In his plea, the actor has also objected to the film's promotional material, claiming it contains unmistakable references to him. Among them, he pointed to the portrayal of a character wearing a blue bracelet similar to the one Khan has worn for years, arguing that it has become a distinctive part of his public identity.

Representing the filmmakers, counsel informed the Court that they had received only the application seeking urgent relief and not the main lawsuit.

"On Wednesday, they served me only the application, not the plaint," the counsel told the Court, reported Live Law.

The filmmakers' counsel also submitted that they had been receiving death threats over the proposed film and that an FIR had already been registered in the matter.

After hearing both sides, the Court directed Khan to serve the complete set of case documents, including the main petition, on the respondents before the next date of hearing.
