Alia Bhatt is reportedly set to join Tumbbad 2, taking on a key role that will shape the future of the franchise. According to reports, the actor has already begun shooting and will appear in a powerful character despite a relatively short schedule. The arc of her character is also expected to continue into Tumbbad 3, where she will spearhead the conclusion alongside Sohum Shah.
As per a Pinkvilla report, Alia has been roped in for an important part that will be filmed over an intensive 20-day shoot, with her character playing a crucial role in setting up the third installment.
“Alia has a power-packed role in Tumbbad 2. While it’s a 20-day shoot, the character is extremely important and directly sets up the events of the third film. She loved the script, and it was a no-brainer for her," a source was quoted as saying.
Earlier, Mid-Day had reported that the makers were considering Alia Bhatt for a cameo in the folk horror sequel. Despite the limited screen time, the role was described as pivotal to the storyline, with the makers looking for someone who could bring gravitas and intrigue to the part - something Alia was said to have delivered.
Directed by Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad 2 is expected to dive deeper into the dark mythology of Hastar, expanding the eerie universe established in the original film. The sequel will explore the consequences of awakening forces that were never meant to be worshipped, promising a more intense narrative.
On the work front, Alia is also gearing up for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, where she will star alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is expected to wrap up its remaining shoot by August 2026 and is targeting a theatrical release during the Republic Day 2027 weekend.
