Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has reacted to the Pune fort murder case, saying families should not be held responsible for the actions of their children and questioning the role of social media, artificial intelligence and peer influence in shaping young minds.

Sharing her thoughts on Instagram Stories, Kangana wrote, "These days, just looking at the families, homes or parents, you can never be sure about the sanskars of the children. What is more important is who is programming them, who they spend time with, what are their influences on SM/AI or real life (sic)."

She added, "Parents cannot be blamed because people are living so many parallel lives. People carefully build desirable perception of themselves because it is all about how they are seen, not how they feel or who they really are, so families cannot be judged for children's actions (sic)."

Her remarks come amid the investigation into the death of 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal, whose case has taken a dramatic turn. Ketan died on June 18 after falling nearly 400 feet into a gorge at Pune's Lohagad Fort. The incident was initially reported as an accidental fall during a trek.

Actor Hina Khan had also reacted to the case earlier, expressing shock over the developments on social media.

About Ketan Agarwal's alleged murder

According to the police, Ketan's fiancee, Siya Goyal, initially claimed that he had slipped while taking photographs near the edge of the fort. However, investigators later examined CCTV footage from the area and spotted a man wearing a hoodie despite the 33-degree heat, allegedly following the couple shortly before the incident. The man was later identified as 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary.

Police have alleged that Siya and Chetan were in a relationship but she decided not to call off her engagement to Ketan. During questioning, Chetan allegedly told investigators that Siya did not want to elope because she feared it would bring shame to her family.

Investigators have also alleged that Siya had repeatedly persuaded Ketan to visit Lohagad Fort in the weeks leading up to his death and believe the alleged murder was carried out on June 18.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in police custody. The investigation is ongoing.
