Katrina Kaif eyes comeback with Chandni Bar 2, joins Tabu in sequel: Report
Katrina Kaif is reportedly in talks for Madhur Bhandarkar's Chandni Bar 2. The sequel is said to revisit the red light area and crime ecosystem, according to sources.

Actor Katrina Kaif is reportedly lining up her next major onscreen project since giving birth to her son, Vihaan. Recent reports claim that the actor is in talks with filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar for Chandni Bar 2, a sequel to his 2001 film Chandni Bar.
Katrina has been cast in the final cast list for Chandni Bar 2, which will be directed by Ajay Bahl, as reported by Filmfare. A source close to the film told the entertainment portal that Tabu will also star in the lead and that the film will follow a theme similar to the original.
The insider added that, while plot details are being kept under wraps, the new film will also be based on "the red light area and crime ecosystem." An official confirmation from the makers on Chandni Bar 2 and its cast is still awaited.
The original Chandni Bar was directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and starred Tabu and Atul Kulkarni in lead roles. The supporting cast included Ananya Khare, Rajpal Yadav, Minakshi Sahani and Vishal Thakkar.
The film told a story set against the backdrop of the Mumbai underworld, prostitution, dance bars and gun crime. It was released on September 28, 2001, and went on to become both a box office and critical success.
According to an India Today report, Katrina resumed reading scripts and is considering OTT projects for her return to acting. A source close to the development told India Today is carefully evaluating potential projects.
“Katrina Kaif is back to reading scripts after embracing motherhood recently. The actor is reportedly planning to return to a film set by the second half of 2027 and is actively looking for the right script, something that is worth her time. For the same, she seems interested in exploring streaming projects that could provide better opportunities for actors," the source said.
The actor was last seen in Merry Christmas (2024) alongside Vijay Sethupathi. The mystery-thriller was directed by Sriram Raghavan.
Katrina and Vicky welcomed their first child, Vihaan Kaushal, on November 7, 2025. The couple got married on December 9, 2021, in a traditional Hindu ceremony at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan.
