Kriti Sanon's trainer on how she achieved her toned look for Cocktail 2 bikini scene
Karan Sawhney has detailed how Kriti Sanon prepared for her first bikini scene in Cocktail 2. He highlighted the actor's effort to achieve a fit, lean look without losing the character's glow.

Actor Kriti Sanon has drawn attention for her toned physique in the recently released trailer of her upcoming film, Cocktail 2. Her fitness trainer, Karan Sawhney, has now shared details of the regimen she followed for her first-ever bikini scene in the Homi Adajania directorial.
On June 4, Sawhney posted a video documenting Sanon’s preparation for the part and said the process was shaped by the director’s vision for her character, Ally. He wrote, “When @kritisanon and I first had a chat, we didn’t just have a fitness goal, we had a director’s vision to bring to life (sic).”
Sawhney said stepping into the role of Ally in Cocktail 2 “pushed her harder than anything before”. He added that Sanon’s first bikini scene was not only a physical challenge, but also a mental and emotional one, as it required her to show up every day even when she did not feel like it.
Super lean, super toned look for Ally
According to Sawhney, the brief from the makers was clear: Sanon had to be fit and lean, not size zero. Recalling Adajania’s direction, he said, "Super lean. Super toned. Abs that actually show on camera. Strength that reads through the screen. But this was the real challenge: don’t lose the glow. Don’t hollow out the face. The director needed Ally to look fit and luminous. Too lean and you lose that. Too soft and you miss the mark. That’s the fine line we walked. Every. Single. Week."
Strength training and Zone 2 cardio
Sawhney said Sanon trained at the gym six times a week. Her plan included heavy strength training to build shape and definition, incline walks for slow and sustainable fat burn without muscle loss, and Zone 2 cardio to keep her metabolism working without burning her out. The trainer said her nutrition was carefully managed to protect her face while leaning the body, and regular director briefings were factored into every phase of the plan.
"The kind of training we did – with her nutrition, with her sleep, with her food – we included a lot of incline walks. She was eating a high-protein diet. We were in a sort of deficit, but with a lot of strength training and basically staying active throughout the day. I mean, it was a challenge, but as you can see, she pulled it off," he added.
Cocktail 2 also features Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles. The upcoming film is a spiritual sequel to Adajania's Cocktail (2012), featuring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty.
Cocktail 2 is set for a theatrical release on June 19, 2026.
