Actor Manjari Fadnnis breaks down, alleges society dog was hit on head with rod
Actor Manjari Fadnnis shared an emotional video alleging that some people in her society brutally attacked a community dog named Mikey. Her account has drawn attention to Mikey's disappearance, an alleged confession and called for stronger animal cruelty laws.

Actor Manjari Fadnnis, known for her role in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, broke down in an emotional video as she spoke about Mikey, a community dog in her housing society. She alleged that a few people had brutally killed him. In the video, she said Mikey had been abandoned by his family and had been a part of their society since 2019 or 2020.
An animal lover, Fadnnis said Mikey had gone missing and residents had been trying to find him. She said they made posters, put them up across the area, and kept speaking to security guards and others to find out what had happened to him and where he had gone.
Sharing the details in the video, she said, "I wish I never needed to make this video, but I think it’s really important." She described Mikey as "a really sweet dog" and said residents had been searching for him incessantly. Fadnnis then said that somebody from the society had confessed that Mikey was sleeping quietly near one of the basement areas when he was hit on the head with a stick or iron rod.
"He got very disoriented. They dragged him into the staircase area between B1 and Lobby, and they hit him more that he was bleeding from his mouth. He pooed, peed and dirtied the place. He was half-dead, and they just put him inside a goni, and they threw him off into an empty area behind," she said.
Here's her video:
Fadnnis said she did not know whether Mikey had survived and that they were trying to search for his body. She also said people with "criminal minds" felt safe taking an illegal route to eliminate dogs they did not like, including community dogs that were harmless, loved and cared for.
Remembering Mikey, she said he was a long-haired dog whom they often took home, bathed, groomed and detangled. She said he was "such a happy boy" who would run around the house after his bath.
Ending that part of the video, she said, "He’s gone."
Along with the video, Fadnnis wrote, "Our Mikey was Brutally Murdered & we are going to fight for him. This should never happen with ANY Dog Ever again in any Society anywhere! People should be SCARED to hurt an animal! We NEED Stronger laws against Animal Cruelty (sic)!"
She also thanked Xavier Bernard Santiago, Sanket Kadam and others in the society who, she said, had stood with them in their fight for justice for Mikey.
Many celebrities, including Bhumi Pednekar, Vedika, Dimple Hayathi, among others, shared their shock, disappointment and condolences to Manjari. Take a look:
