Veteran actor Nafisa Ali Sodhi has shared videos from a trek at 11,000 feet with family and friends amid her cancer battle. The clips have renewed attention on her recovery journey and her earlier account of a delayed diagnosis.

Veteran actor and politician Nafisa Ali Sodhi, who was diagnosed with stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer in 2018 and was in remission until last year, when she said the illness had returned, has shared videos from a trek she undertook with friends and family. The clips, shot at 11,000 feet, have been widely circulated online and have brought attention back to her recovery journey during her cancer battle.
In the videos, Nafisa Ali said the outing made her feel "brand new" after surgery and chemotherapy. The posts have also renewed focus on what she had said earlier about her cancer diagnosis, including the difficulties she faced in getting doctors to identify the illness despite persistent symptoms.
In one of the videos, she wrote, "Trekking at 11,000 feet for a super picnic with friends and family. See me being helped by my son-in-law and grandson as they helped me down the track. It made me feel brand new after surgery and my many chemos (sic)."
In another, she added, "At 11,000 feet - near Rohtang - with Adil (my son-in-law) and Aamair pushing me up the rocks, I finally made it up to the car. It was too much fun." Describing the landscape, she said, "After crossing the Atal Tunnel, we had a picnic lunch at 11,000 feet at a place called Sissu. It was just a grand experience (sic)."
In an earlier conversation with Fit Tak, Nafisa Ali spoke about her struggle to get the disease diagnosed. She said doctors were initially unable to identify the illness despite her symptoms, which she said led to a late-stage diagnosis. "I knew my stomach pain was cancer, but doctors were not able to diagnose and this led to stage 4," she said.
Recalling that period, Nafisa described confronting her physician upon returning to Delhi after two months, insisting that the initial diagnosis was incorrect. The experience was deeply emotional, causing her to break down in tears as she demanded the medical team take her persistent visits seriously. It was only when she developed an acute pain near her appendix that doctors finally escalated their investigations. "I told the doctor, 'I've got appendicitis, and all of you have diagnosed me wrong.' That's when the doctors finally sat up and took notice," the 69-year-old added.
Nafisa Ali is a former beauty pageant winner and national swimming champion, and is known for films including Junoon (1978), Major Saab (1998), Bewafaa (2005), Life In A... Metro (2007) and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011). She has also shared screen space with actors including actors Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
The veteran's last theatrical release was director Sooraj Barjatya's Uunchai (2022).
