Katrina Kaif or Vicky Kaushal? Sham Kaushal answers who grandson Vihaan resembles
Veteran action director Sham Kaushal, in an interview, revealed who his grandson Vihaan looks like and talked about how becoming a grandfather was life-changing. He also spoke about Vicky's childhood, his family and why he has no plans to retire.
Veteran action director Sham Kaushal said his grandson Vihaan resembles his actor-son Vicky Kaushal. Speaking exclusively with India Today, the 70-year-old said becoming a grandfather has changed his life and added, "I think he looks like Vicky."
Sham, the father of actors Vicky and Sunny Kaushal, spoke about his bond with Vihaan with gratitude. Vicky and his wife, actor Katrina Kaif, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Vihaan, on November 7, 2025.
Talking about his grandson, Sham said, "He has changed my life. Whenever I am busy with work and can’t hug him physically, I do a couple of video calls with him and talk to him. He is so nice. I thank God as much as I can." When asked whether Vihaan resembles Vicky or Katrina, he said, "I think he looks like Vicky."
He also dismissed the idea that the Uri actor was naughty as a child. "No, Vicky was not naughty. He was a very sorted child. He was nice."
Reflecting on his family, Sham said he often feels grateful for his children and for the family he has today. "There are so many parents in the world who are blessed by their children. I am one of them. I had never imagined all this. I have got two wonderful kids, and my daughter-in-law is so nice. I thank God."
Sham also said retirement is not on his mind, even though his sons have asked him to slow down. "They keep telling me to stop working. But what will I do if I don't work? I have been working since I was nine years old. What will I do after having tea and breakfast?" he said with a laugh.
He said work now comes from passion rather than necessity. "Earlier, I worked with insecurity. I had to take care of my family and my kids. Now I am in a secure zone. I don't have to worry about money. I am working with good people, and I am enjoying it more."
Sham said he has been fortunate to collaborate with both his sons and is proud not only of their success but also of the people they have become. "I have pride in my children. I want them to be good people. I keep telling them, 'Your craft will improve, but first, be a good human being.' That is important."
Recalling Vicky's early days, Sham shared a memory from the sets of Zubaan. He said he learnt that Vicky had put a stone in his shoe to maintain a limp for a scene. "When I saw his expressions and what he was doing, I would come back to my hotel with tears in my eyes. It was not because I was working with my son. I swear, I felt I had got the opportunity to work with a very good actor," he said.
Vihaan's introduction to paparazzi
Earlier this year, Vicky and Katrina introduced Vihaan to the paparazzi during an outing from Mumbai. The couple were spotted at the Mumbai airport. Photographers clicked Vicky, while Katrina asked them not to photograph her as she was carrying the baby.
